Welcome to Overseas Friend of India Qatar



Overseas Friends of India [OFI QATAR] is formed to work towards strengthening social bonds among Qatar Indians ,Expatriates irrespective of region, religion, race, creed and colour, and help to generate a feeling of oneness and brotherhood, 'Integral Humanism'.

An Association of Indians residing in the State of Qatar, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, region, gender and language to implement social responsibility towards the nation and supportive missions for the NRI community at large. We believe in “One India”.


The main objectives of the organization formulated which are outlined as follows:

  • To work towards projecting a positive and correct image of India and its people in the Australian and foreign media, and correct any distortions in the media’s reporting of current events taking place in India.
  • To promote the philosophy of ‘Integral Humanism’.
  • To foster a cordial relationship between Indian and Australian People, by establishing direct communication channels with local ethnic and national media, and organizing regular seminars on topics of mutual interest.
  • To work towards strengthening social bonds among Australian Indians , irrespective of region, religion, race, creed and color, and help to generate a feeling of oneness and brotherhood.
  • To create a think tank of mature, experienced and intelligent individuals of Indian origin in order to utilize their expertise and wisdom to generate new ideas which could be beneficial for the Indian community in Australia and the people of India.

VIJAY CHAUTHAIWALE (Incharge - Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP))

Dr Vijay is In-Charge, Department of Foreign Affairs, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), since November 2014. In this role, he is coordinating with Indian Diaspora worldwide through BJP’s global outreach platform, Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP). OFBJP has chapters in more than 40 countries and are comprised of well wishers of BJP.

Dr Vijay is Ph.D. (Microbiology) from University of Pune, India with 4 years experience as a Post Doctoral Fellow at National Institutes of Health, USA. He has attended executive management program at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and leadership development program at London Business School. Author of several peer reviewed scientific papers and inventor of several global patents, he also served on the Board of Studies of Indian universities. In 2011, He was also a member of selection committee for the appointment of Vice Chancellor, M. S. University of Baroda, India.

Dr Vijay participated in 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign (February-June 2014) by taking sabbatical from his professional work. He was stationed in the BJP Headquarters in New Delhi for campaign coordination. Dr Vijay’s wife, Dr Jyoti is Ph D (Biochemstry), is social activist. His daughter, Prerita, works in a social media initiative.
